Italy, the European vice-champion, and reigning world champion, is set to co-host the CEV EuroVolley 2026 Men’s Championship, marking the second consecutive time the nation will host the prestigious event. Joining forces with Bulgaria, Finland, and Romania, Italy aims to carry the tournament until the medal matches, building on the success of previous editions.
CEV President Aleksandar Boričić lauded Italy’s significant contributions to volleyball, highlighting the Italian Volleyball Federation’s role in popularizing the sport globally. The decision to have Italy as a co-organiser reflects the desire to leverage the legacy of the 2023 edition and elevate the event further.
Giuseppe Manfredi, President of the Italian Volleyball Federation, expressed his gratitude for the government’s support and the successful organization of past championships across nine cities. The federation’s ambition is to create a lasting legacy for volleyball’s growth, continuing the tradition of excellence set by previous tournaments.
Italy’s rich history with the tournament dates back to the first men’s European Championship in 1948. It has since hosted several memorable editions. The 2026 edition promises to be an exciting event, with 24 teams competing for the title. The qualifiers for the tournament are scheduled for the summers of 2024 and 2025, ensuring a competitive field of participants.
