It was a night of high drama in the volleyball world, as Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie staged an incredible comeback to defeat JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel 3:2 and secure a place in the Champions League final.
Jastrzębski looked unstoppable after dominating the first two sets. But everything unraveled as Aluron clawed their way back, eventually winning the tie-breaker. It was a bitter pill for Jastrzębski’s players, especially Tomasz Fornal, who didn’t hold back in his post-match reaction.
“This match was just like our whole season—great start, and then trouble hit,” Fornal said, summing up the crushing loss with raw honesty.
His words reflected the frustration of a season filled with promise but ultimately falling short when it mattered most. Fornal, who is nearing the end of his time with the club, also emphasized the importance of finishing strong.
“We have to come out with positive energy. A bronze medal isn’t what we dreamed of, but it’s still something to fight for,” he added.
With a bronze medal match against Halkbank Ankara on the horizon, Jastrzębski will need to regroup fast. Meanwhile, Zawiercie celebrates a historic moment, marching on to their first-ever Champions League final.
