Greenyard Maaseik secured a narrow 3–2 victory over Galatasaray HDI Sigorta in the first leg of the CEV Cup quarterfinals, played at the TVF Burhan Felek Vestel Volleyball Hall.

The contest was closely fought from start to finish. Maaseik claimed the opening set 25–23, before Galatasaray responded to take the second set 26–24. The Belgian side regained the lead by winning the third set 25–23, but the home team forced a deciding set after another tight 25–23 win in the fourth. In the tie-break, Greenyard Maaseik held their nerve to secure the match with a 15–11 victory.
Gökçen Yüksel led Galatasaray’s scoring with 18 points, while Jean Patry added 16. For Greenyard Maaseik, Sil Meijs delivered an outstanding performance as the match’s top scorer with 33 points, and Pierre Perin contributed 27.
The two teams will meet again for the return leg on March 11 in Belgium, where the semifinal spot will be decided.
