With places in the semi-finals and qualification for CEV EuroVolley 2028 on the line, the race for a top-four finish is beginning to take shape ahead of the final League Round weekend.

Sweden continued dominant form on home court in Ängelholm, defeating Lithuania and Bosnia and Herzegovina in straight sets. Star opposite Isabelle Haak remains the competition’s leading scorer with 104 points from four matches.

Slovenia also maintained its flawless record in Ljubljana, easing past Iceland and Latvia without dropping a set. Despite the dominance of the two leaders, the battle for the semi-finals remains intense, with Slovakia, Hungary, Spain and Greece also unbeaten after four matches.

Greece successfully defended home court in Larissa, sweeping Kosovo before overcoming Portugal in a hard-fought five-set encounter. Martha Anthouli starred once again, producing 25 points in the victory over Portugal.

Portugal collected second win of the campaign with a straight-sets victory over Kosovo and came close to upsetting Greece, while Kosovo continues their search for a first European League win.

In the men’s competition, the Netherlands strengthened their position at the top of the standings with straight-set victories over Georgia and Slovakia in Doetinchem. Estonia, Finland, Denmark and Israel have also opened the tournament with four consecutive wins.

Israel’s Shay Mayo Liberman and Mark Rura lead the league scoring charts, highlighting the team’s strong start to the campaign.

Meanwhile, Latvia suffered the biggest setback of the weekend. After leading the standings following the opening round, consecutive defeats to Montenegro and Portugal saw the Baltic side slide down to 13th place.

With one weekend remaining before the semi-finals are decided, both competitions remain finely balanced and set for a dramatic conclusion.
