The Serbian Men’s Volleyball National Team staged another thriller to its fans in the 2017 CEV European Championship in Poland, in only two days!
After dropping a 2-0 lead in sets in the semi-finals against Germany, Serbia managed to recover from 1-2 in sets in the match for the third place versus Belgium, in Kraków, and grab a bronze medal, their sixth medal of that glow overall in the history of the Men’s Continental Championship since the breakup of Yugoslavia, 3-2 (25-17, 22-25, 19-25, 25-22, 15-12).
It was a highly nervous game on both sides (36 errors of Serbia, of which 21 from the service, and 27 errors of Belgium) but also very attractive as both sides had a supreme blocking display (Serbia 13 kill blocks, Belgium 15).
Serbia’s opposite Dražen Luburić, who underplayed the attack in the semis, yesterday, showed his full potential tonight with 26 points. Simon van de Voorde and Gert van Walle topped Belgium with 16 points each.
