In a game that supposed to be a fierce battle but turned to be far from it, the Slovenian titleholders ACH Volley Ljubljana ran over Romanian side C.S. Arcada Galați at home by a 3-0 (25-19, 27-25, 25-22) in the 1st leg of the 8th Finals. The Croatian Petar Djirlić and Ukrainian Dmitrii Babkov scored 14 points for ACH Volley, who had 11 kill blocks as a team.
The leaders of the Turkish championship Ziraat Bankası Ankara demonstrated power against the side who, ironically, has that word in the club name, SWD Powervolleys Düren from Germany, with 17 points from the Pole Dawid Konarski and 13 kill blocks as a team.
The French representatives Montpellier Volley UC beat defending champions of Belarus Shakhtior Soligorsk by a 3-1. Jean Patry delivered 20 points for Montpellier.
