In Round 4 game of the 2018 CEV Men’s Volleyball Champions League – Pool E, the Belgian Maaseik shocked Zaksa, who have lost three games in a row in three different tournaments in 9 days, 3-2 (26-24, 24-26, 25-20, 22-25, 17-15). And before their negative streak set off, they were unbeaten for 21 games, including national championship PlusLiga (17), Champions League (3) and domestic cup (1). But then, Zaksa suffered defeats to Asseco Resovia Rzeszów in PlusLiga, Trefl Gdańsk in the national cup and now to Maaseik in the most elite club tournament in Europe.

The Estonian Timo Tammemaa sealed the win for Maaseik with an ace in the game in which his teammate Jolan Cox was the top scorer with 32 points (4 served aces, 3 kill blocks), winning some key points in the tie-break. In Zaksa, the Belgian Sam Deroo 24 points (4 kill blocks).

Berlin Recycling Volleys were once again better than Spacer’s Toulouse VB in Pool D.

The German titleholders BR Volleys beat Toulouse for the second time in less than two weeks, 3-1 (25-20, 15-25, 25-23, 25-18), to score their second win in the tournament. As for Toulouse, they are at 0-4. But today, the French side had a chance to extend the game to the tie-break but their play fell apart in the fourth set as they underachieved in the attack in this period with 37% compared to 60% of their rivals.

Robert Kromm notched 16 points for the German side, while Canadian Graham Vigrass added 5 kill blocks (14 points). In Toulouse, Luka Bašić, the son of a famous coach Veljko Bašić (Fenerbahçe), scored 18 points.
