EuroVolley U17 W: Russia and Serbia claimed first victories

Day 2 of the 2018 CEV U17 Volleyball European Championship – Women was successful for Russia and Serbia who scored their first wins at the competition in Sofia.

Serbia

Russia outplayed Belarus with 3-1 although they lost the first set. Russian players were able to get back on their feet and take three points from this matchup. Elizaveta Kochurina became the best player of the match who scored 24 points. 

Serbia also recorded their first win at the tournament after a 3-1 victory over Slovenia.

In Pool I the host team survived volleyball thriller against Hungary while in Pool II Germany, Turkey and Italy celebrate second wins. 

The match between Turkey and Romania was a real Balkan derby and was equal until the end. After many fights Turkey was the stronger team and Damla Tokman scored the final point with a perfect block.

Russia vs. Belarus 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-13)

Slovenia vs. Serbia 1-3 (28-26, 22-25, 20-25, 20-25)

Hungary vs. Bulgaria 2-3 (25-18, 20-25, 31-29, 23-25, 7-15)

Pool II

Ukraine vs. Germany 1-3 (19-25, 19-25, 25-18, 23-25)

Italy vs. The Netherlands 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-12)

Romania vs. Turkey 2-3 (23-25, 24-26, 28-26, 25-17, 9-15)
