EuroVolley U17 W: Russia on the throne; Valeriia Gorbunova MVP

Russian girls won the gold medal at the European Championship U17 in Bulgaria and secured the place at the World Championship like the five next ranked teams.

In the big final of the EuroVolley U17, Russia defeated Italy with 3-1 (30-28, 26-24, 20-25, 26-24) although the opponents were equal during the whole match. All sets finished with two points of difference.

Both Russia and Italy showed great Volleyball skills in the final match – long rallies and intense play but eventually, the Russians were more concentrated in the decisive moments.

In the match for the third place Turkey defeated hosts Bulgaria with 3-1 and took the bronze medals while in the match for the fifth place which also brings place at World Championship, Romania outclassed Belarus in straight sets and finished the competition on a positive note.

Germany as the seventh-ranked team secured their spot in 2019 European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku (EYOF) after a 3-1 victory over Slovenia.

Russia – Italy 3-1 (30-28, 26-24, 20-25, 26-24)

For bronze medal

Turkey – Bulgaria 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 21-25, 25-19)

For 5th place

Romania – Belarus 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-11)

For 7th place

Germany – Slovenia 3-2 (23-25, 19-25, 25-17, 25-20, 15-7)
