SG VB NÖ Sokol/Post continued their outstanding domination over Austrian Women’s Volleyball Championship (Austrian Volley League Women – AVL), last night!

The team from Vienna, top seed, swept No.2 ASKÖ Linz/Steg in playoff finals by 3-0, beating rivals in Game 3 at home 25-20, 25-23, 25-17. Thus, Sokol took national championship title for the 24th time in a row, 51st time overall!

A win in the third game was the most difficult for Sokol of all in the final series. Actually, Linz nearly took second set but dropped 21-15 lead. Star of the night was Czech opposite Simona Janečková, who scored 21 points for the new/old title holders.

The fact they lost only two games in 2016/2017, both in Regular Season – to SG VBV Trofaiach/WSV Eisenerz and UVC Holding Graz, shows how big the domination of the ladies coached by the Czech Jiří Šiller was.
