In the last sparring before the 2017/18 season in PlusLiga, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów beat Tours Volley-Ball from France 3-1 (25-16, 25-18, 36-38, 25-18). The best scorer in the Polish side was Aleksander Śliwka with 20 points. Hermans Egleskalns made 18 in Tours.
PlusLiga teams GKS Katowice and ONICO Warszawa (ex-ONICO AZS Politechnika Warszawska) advanced to the finals of a famous Polish international pre-season tournament “Memorial of Arkadiusz Gołaś“ in the city of Murowana Goślina. In the first semi-final, Katowice stunned the bronze medalists of the Polish League last season, Jastrzębski Węgiel, 3-2 (20-25, 25-15, 25-27, 25-20, 15-12). Afterwards, Warszawa outplayed German title holders Berlin Recycling Volleys 3-1 (25-18, 30-28, 18-25, 25-19) thanks to 18 points from Wojciech Włodarczyk. The Australian Paul Carroll topped Bundesliga powerhouse with 24 points.
