After being shocked by Belarus in EuroVolley’s Pool B opener in Tbilisi, Croatia redeemed to their fans by downing Georgia in Round 2. Still, it was a hard-fought win in which Croatia dropped one set to the debutants in the continental championship.

„I think I will have to send an official request to CEV to shorten the matches to two sets only. It is difficult to explain in a rational way what happened to my team in the third set,“ Croatia’s head coach Igor Lovrinov stated ironically.

„I took this team only a week ago, so it is a short time to get the feeling of it. The team is prepared physically, so we have to look for answers elsewhere. My biggest challenge when taking over the team seven days ago was the team’s reaction. I didn’t know how they would respond to such a sudden change. I know all of the players as I worked with them four years ago, but it doesn’t matter now. I don’t know them as a group and I have to find that out as soon as possible to produce some good volleyball,“ he added.
