SK Posojilnica AICH/DOB claimed their first-ever regional MEVZA cup gold medal.

The Austrian side SK Posojilnica AICH/DOB, the MEVZA cup Final Four hosts, thrilled their fans in the packed Jugend & Familiengästehaus gymnasium in Bleiburg (1,000 spectators) by winning the club first-ever title in the tournament that gathers teams from the Middle European Volleyball Zonal Association.

No.3 Posojilnica beat the fourth-seed Slovenian Calcit Kamnik Volley, who was deprived of help from three players in the Final Four (Sašo Štalekar, Andrej Štembergar Zupan, and Domen Kotnik), in the final by a 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 25-20, 25-17).

The Pole Łukasz Wiese topped Austrian runners-up with 28 points (3 aces). His compatriot Jan Król made 71% attack (10/14). In Calcit, the debutants in the gold medal match, Primož Vidmar scored 18 points.

The Slovenian titleholders ACH Volley Ljubljana beat Mladost Zagreb from Croatia by a 3-1 to win the bronze medal.
