WCH 2018 W: Italy successfully opened competition in Pool B

The young team of Italy started their road at the 2018 Women’s World Championship with straight-set (25-15, 25-19, 25-22) victory over Bulgaria in Pool B.

In their first match at the championship, Paola Egonu was the top scorer with 18 points but Miriam Sylla was the star of the match who fired up and who scored 17 points overall. Nasya Dimitrova led Bulgaria with 9 points helped by Gergana Dimitrova who finished the match with 8 points.

Italian captain Cristina Chirichella was satisfied after the match: “It was a very good game for us today although we were a bit nervous because it was the first match, our block and defense were good. Now, we can relax a bit more ahead of our second game.
