WCH 2018 W: Dominicans passed over Kenya, Thailand defeated Azerbaijan

Today’s victory advanced the Dominican Republic to the second round of the FIVB Women's World Championship.

Yonkaira Isabel scored 16 points to lead the Dominican Republic against Kenya 3-0 (25-5, 25-7, 25-15) while Lisvel Mejia and Brayelin Martinez added 12 points each.

Leonida Kasaya and Sharon Chepchumba scored five apiece for Kenya in the loss.

In Pool C, Thailand outplayed Azerbaijan and recorded their third victory of the first round.  

Thailand’s girls won 25-22, 15-25, 25-19, 25-17 to drop Azerbaijan’s win-loss record to 2-3.

Onuma Sittirak was the best scorer of the winning team with 24 points but Polina Rahimova scored 25 points for Azerbaijan while Jana Kulan 10 points.

Netherlands – Mexico 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-16)

Cameroon – Argentina 0-3 (22-25, 20-25, 12-25)

Germany – Japan (12:20 CET)
