Lube Civitanova have taken a revenge to Zenit Kazan for the defeat in the last year’s edition of the Club Men’s Volleyball Championship.

Moreover, the Italian side took the opportunity to push the team from Russia towards the edge. Now, nothing is up to them. They just need to wait for the match between Skra and Fakel and to cheer more for the Polish side.

It was another five-set thriller. Zenit had the lead 2-1, just like in the game against Fakel, but their display obviously was not good to keep the pace and to win the game. We must admit, the last two sets were really uncertain and Lube were lucky to win them both and to clinch the game.

Tsvetan Sokolov was the top scorer in Lube with 20 points, while Simon Robertlandy added 18. Leal ended the game with 15, Juantorena had 11.

Zenit’s trio, Earvin Ngapeth (22 points), Maxim Mikhaylov (21) and Matt Anderson (16) performed well, but for this game, they needed a little bit more luck to win the game.

Men’s Club World Championship, round 2:

Pool A:

Lube Civitanova – Zenit Kazan 3-2 (20-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-23, 19-17)

Fakel – Skra 3-2 (23-25, 27-29, 30-28, 25-21, 21-19)

Standings: Lube 2-0 (6-3, 5 points), Fakel 2-0 (6-4, 4 points), Zenit Kazan 0-2 (4-6, 2 points), Skra 0-2 (3-6, 1 points)
