Turkey national team outblocked South Korea with a 17-3 margin, spoiling a debut of an Italian expert Stefano Lavarini at the bench of the Asian side: 3-0 (25-15, 28-26, 25-19). Korea missed their chance in the second set when they were 6 points ahead (14-8) but dropped the big lead.

The difference in the FIVB ranking list did not scare Turkish players (South Korea are No.9, Turkey are No.12) who were led on the court by the world star on the rise Ebrar Karakurt. A 19-year-old opposite hitter highlighted with 19 points (3 kill blocks), while Aslı Kalaç set up 6kill blocks. Kim Hee-Jin was the only double-digit player for Korea with 10 points.

Pool 4 hosts Serbia emerged victorious from one of the derbies on Day 1 against The Netherlands.

The head coach of the Dutch national team Jamie Morrison introduced some new blood today, putting three debutants in the starting line-up: Indy Baijens, Eline Timmerman and Hester Jasper. Since the current world champions were on the other side of the net, the experience of their players in a top-level volleyball prevailed and Serbia won the game in front of own crowd in Belgrade by a 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-19). The Netherlands had the visible chance in the match only in the second set when they tied the score at 20-20 while Serbia gained an early lead in the first and the second set.

Tijana Bošković top-scored for Serbia with 25 points (3 aces). Nicole Oude Luttikhuis wa sthe closest to double digits in the Dutch national team with 8 points, while Juliet Lohuis set up 4 kill blocks.
