The Italian champions Imoco Volley Conegliano will play the final of the 2019 Club World Championship. It was quite a memorable semifinal match in which the team coached by Daniele Santarelli canceled as many as nine match points against titleholders VakıfBank Istanbul! Turkish powerhouse had the first match point at 14-10 but even four chances in a row weren’t enough for Giovani Guidetti’s ladies to close the encounter.
After canceling nine match points of rivals, Imoco converted their own third match point thanks to the block of the Pole Joanna Wołosz on Brazilian Gabriela Guimarães “Gabi“: 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 21-25, 23-21). Phenomenal Paola Egonu chipped in with 38 points for Imoco! Logically, she earned MVP of the match award. The Swede Isabelle Haak scored 24 points for VakıfBank, while Zehra Güneş made 5 kill blocks.
