So far, 40-point or close to 40-point displays were reserved for foreign players in the South Korean Women’s Volleyball Championship. But things are changing this season.

When you see an import pouring in 40 points or even more, both in male and female Korean leagues, it’s not such bombastic news because this has happened in many seasons before. Whilst it’s the same in the men’s championship this season, things are changing in the women’s. Brutal scoring outputs are no longer reserved for foreigners.

After 40 points from Lee Jae-Yeong in mid-November, another local player made the same display. It was a 26-year-old outside hitter Park Jeong-ah. She noted down 40 points for the vice-champions Korea Expressway Corporation Hi-Pass in the 3-2 (30-32, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 15-10) win over IBK Altos! Kim Ju-Hyang top-scored for the losing side, while Kim Su-Ji set up 5 kill blocks.
