FIVB releases new schedule for Tokyo Olympic Games

The five months after releasing the initial schedule for volleyball tournaments at the Tokyo Olympic Games, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) unveiled the new one after to the postponement of the event.

The FIVB confirmed a full match schedule for the men’s and women’s volleyball tournaments at the postponed Tokyo Olympics, which will be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021. As it’s known from earlier, the event in the Japanese capital was moved a year ahead due to the coronavirus pandemic. The schedule remains the same as originally planned but now adjusted to the new dates of 2021, meaning that the matches of the pool stage will be held on alternate days for men and women, each day including six encounters in three sessions of two.

Men will set off the action on Saturday, July 24 with the match between the Rio 2016 runners-up Italy and Canada at 9:00 local time. Match schedule – Men.

The women’s tournament begins on Sunday, July 25 at the same time as men’s premiere with the clash between Russia and Italy. Match schedule – Women.

All matches will be held at the newly constructed Ariake Arena.
