In a match of the day, Serbia managed to defeat China in four sets to earn the fourth victory at the 2021 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League.
Katarina Lazovic was the best scorer with 26 points, while Sara Caric added 22 and Sara Lozo 16. In China, Yao Li had 13 points.
“I’m proud of my team because we showed again how we can play after a very difficult and bad game yesterday. We got up and forgot about yesterday focusing on this match. We entered the court with totally different energy and we fought hard. It’s very important. We are a young team, China also have a young team, but in important moments we were better and we knew what we can do. In Serbia, we have this attitude that we always want to win and always show our best. I wanted to help my team and my team helped me a lot. In the third set, we had some moments when we couldn’t find our game. For us service is very important, when we serve well we can do big things, but when we have easy service we cannot play our game. Especially against China who had a perfect reception,” says Katarina Lazovic.
Japan regrouped after the previous day’s defeat to the Netherlands with a very solid performance to shut out Canada for their sixth win in eight matches.
“Our performance today was good. We made less mistakes – some happened, but either way, we managed to beat Canada 3-0, so this is very important for us. We have three match days and then three non-match days, it’s not a lot of time, but we try to improve and we focus on what we have to do,” says Mayu Ishikawa (Japan).
Mayu Ishikawa and Ai Kurogo led the Japanese team with 13 points each.
