Prosecco DOC Imoco Conegliano won the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship for the second time in their history, and they did it in Antalya, on the home soil of their great rivals, VakıfBank Spor Kulübü. The ‘Panthers’ got the better of the Istanbul side 3-1 in the final. A triumph that concluded in the best possible way a path of victories for Daniele Santarelli’s team in the tournament, sealing the revenge on the team that had ‘stolen’ the last world title and also the last CEV Champions League trophy from them. Imoco’s result also completed an Italian double in the Club World Champs together with the men’s title conquered by Sir Safety Susa Perugia a week ago.

The eagerly awaited confrontation between the two players that swapped jerseys last summer, Haak and Egonu, went to the former winner Isabelle Haak. The Swede was the absolute protagonist of the encounter with 34 points, while Paola Egonu stopped at 27 (with the percentage of effectiveness in the attack of only 28.81%; 23/59) on a day when she turned 24, but above, having no influence on the game since 14-14 of the fourth set. Haak also got the MVP award for the event.
