Japan managed to clinch an eighth straight win, overcoming a spirited comeback from Argentina in a Pool 3 game in Orleans. Despite Argentina rallying from 2-0 down to level the match, Japan triumphed in a deciding tiebreaker. The outstanding performances of Ran Takahashi and Kento Miyaura, scoring 32 and 28 points respectively, proved vital for Japan. Argentina’s highest scorer was Luciano Palonsky with 22 points.
Brazil, in another thrilling match in Orleans, snapped Slovenia’s five-match winning streak with a 3-1 victory. Ricardo Lucarelli and Alan Souza spearheaded Brazil’s attack, each scoring 19 points. Klemen Cebulj and Tine Urnaut led Slovenia’s scoring with 18 and 17 points respectively. The day in Orleans concluded with France overcoming Canada 3-0.
Meanwhile, in Rotterdam, the USA triumphed over Poland in straight sets, led by Torey Defalco’s 17-point haul and Aaron Russell’s 11 points. Poland’s top scorer was Bartosz Kurek with 11 points. The Netherlands outlast Iran in a thrilling five-set encounter, while China rounded off the day with a 3-1 victory over Germany.
