Friday’s face-off in the men’s FIVB Road to Paris Olympic Qualifiers saw Poland, led by the exceptional Wilfredo Leon, secure a 3-1 victory over Argentina. This triumph ensures Poland remains unbeaten atop the Pool C standings.

With scores of 25-23, 23-25, 28-26, and 25-20, the world’s top-ranked team showed their prowess against the Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallists. Leon was the star of the match, recording 23 points, followed by Lukasz Kaczmarek with 15. Argentina’s best performer was Agustin Loser with 13 points.

Earlier, Canada dashed Bulgaria’s Olympic hopes with a convincing 3-0 sweep, marking their fourth win. Stephen Maar and Eric Loeppky were pivotal, scoring 16 and 13 points, respectively.

Canada’s looming match against Belgium could determine their Olympic fate. A victory would seal Canada’s spot in Paris. Belgium, fresh off a 3-0 victory over Mexico, remains a threat. Ferre Reggers and captain Sam Deroo shined for Belgium with 19 and 13 points respectively.

In a clash between teams outside the top contention, the Netherlands edged out China in a gripping five-setter, emerging victorious with a 3-2 scoreline.
