Host nation Brazil showcased resilience in a critical match at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament held in Rio de Janeiro. Falling behind initially, Brazil pulled off a comeback to defeat Cuba 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-20). The electrifying atmosphere at the Maracanãzinho stadium, with thousands of roaring home fans, undoubtedly played a part in their spectacular performance.

Darlan de Souza, the 21-year-old sensation, was pivotal for Brazil, delivering 20 points, many at crucial junctures. Meanwhile, Marlon Yant stood out for Cuba, accumulating 19 points.

In another gripping encounter, Italy bounced back from a previous setback against Germany, beating Iran 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-23). Tommaso Rinaldi spearheaded Italy’s attack with 15 points, whereas Saber Kazemi was the standout for the Iranians with 14 points.
