The lineup for the 2025 Volleyball World Championships has been unveiled, revealing an exciting new format. For the first time, 32 teams per gender will compete, up from the previous 24. The men’s tournament will be hosted by the Philippines, while the women’s event will take place in Thailand.
In the men’s tournament, the Philippines and Italy are guaranteed spots as the hosts and defending champions, respectively. The qualification process has concluded, with 15 teams securing their places through the 2023 Continental Championships. These include Egypt, Algeria, and Libya from Africa; Japan, Iran, and Qatar from Asia; Poland, Slovenia, and France from Europe; and Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia from South America. The NORCECA is represented by the USA, Canada, and Cuba.
The final 15 spots were filled based on the FIVB World Rankings as of August 30, 2024. Teams advancing through this method include Germany, Serbia, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Belgium, Türkiye, Czechia, Bulgaria, Portugal, Finland, Tunisia, China, Romania, Chile, and Korea.
The men’s World Championship is scheduled to be held in the Philippines from September 12-28, 2025. The Drawing of Lots for the tournament will be conducted in Manila on September 14, 2024.
