Zoran Terzić Steps Down as Russia Women’s Team Head Coach, Sparks Speculation About Serbia’s Future

by WoV

Zoran Terzić has officially stepped down as the head coach of the Russian national team, following the expiration of his contract. Terzić, who has been at the helm for two years, did not extend his contract with the Russian Volleyball Federation. During his tenure, the team did not play any official matches, and with the contract aligning with the Paris Olympics, its conclusion marked the end of his role. With the Serbian national team currently without a coach, speculation is rife about Terzić’s potential return to lead his home country.

The Serbian Volleyball Federation recently parted ways with Giovanni Guidetti, whose contract ended without any further discussions with the federation. This has led to speculation about possible new appointments, including rumors of French coach Stéphane Antiga potentially taking over.

Terzić’s storied career with the Serbian and former Yugoslav national teams includes multiple accolades: three European Championship gold medals, a World Championship title in 2018, and Olympic medals in Brazil 2016 and Tokyo 2021, among other achievements.
