Led by captain Mayu Ishikawa with 17 points and standout performances from Yukiko Wada and Airi Miyabe, Japan improved to a 6-2 record. Czechia’s brief two-match winning streak ended, but the VNL rookies remain in the running for the Finals.

Earlier in the day, Bulgaria edged Thailand in a nail-biting five-set battle (26-24, 25-13, 21-25, 22-25, 15-9). Captain Elitsa Atanasijevic led Bulgaria with 19 points.
