Italy showed no mercy, sweeping Cuba 3-0 to extend their perfect start at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship. Star opposite Paola Egonu played just two sets but still topped the scoring with 12 points as the Olympic and Nations League champions dominated with set scores of 25-9, 25-8, 25-16.

Head coach Julio Velasco’s side maintained discipline throughout, finishing with a strong 57% attack efficiency. Captain Anna Danesi added eight points, including three key blocks, while Cuba’s young opposite Dezirett De La Caridad Madan matched her tally.

In the other Pool B clash, Belgium proved too strong for Slovakia, sealing another clean 3-0 win (25-19, 25-17, 25-18).

Italy remained unbeaten at the top of Pool B after two matches with their latest victory. Belgium followed closely behind after a 3-0 win over Slovakia, as both teams secured their places in the Round of 16. Elsewhere, Brazil edged past France in a thrilling five-set battle, while hosts Thailand thrilled their home crowd with a straight-sets victory over Sweden.
