Poland continued their impressive run at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship in the Philippines, powering past Turkiye 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-19) to secure a place in the semifinals. The reigning European champions will now face defending world title holders Italy in the semifinals.
From the outset, Nikola Grbić’s team imposed their rhythm.
- Poland: Wilfredo Leon – 13 points, Jakub Kochanowski – 13 points, Bartosz Kurek – 10 points
- Turkiye: Adis Lagumdzija – 12 points
The numbers told the story of Poland’s dominance: 40-32 in attack points, 6-1 in serve aces, and 7-2 in blocks. Leon also impressed with three blocks and an ace, while captain Kurek maintained a 60% attack efficiency.
Speaking after the win, Leon highlighted the importance of consistency: “You don’t win a quarterfinal 3-0 every day. We brought energy and focus, and I’m proud of the team. Playing Italy is always special – we’ll do our best to make it an amazing game for all the fans.”
Turkiye struggled to match Poland’s intensity despite moments of resistance. Their top scorer Adis Lagumdzija admitted disappointment: “We wanted to play much better today. Poland were the better team. Still, this tournament has taught us important lessons for the future.”
Poland now turn their focus to Saturday’s semifinal against Italy – a clash that promises high drama and could decide who takes center stage in the final.
