The U.S. Women’s National Team joined Serbia as the only two teams that secured their berth in the Final Six of the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix – Group 1 throughout Preliminary Round. The Final Tournament host China is the third participant.

USA W NT

USA W NT

In the penultimate round of the final week (Week 3) of a Preliminary Round, the United States downed Belgium in four sets, partially 25-14, 16-25, 25-19, 26-24, to qualify for the Final Tournament of the Grand Prix with a 6-2 record and 19 points.

It is definitely a huge success for the Americans as they played this year’s campaign without several important players (Larson, Akinradewo, Hill…) but with a few, obviously, future stars of world volleyball. One of them, Madison Kingdon, topped the U.S. NT in the clash versus Belgium with 18 points. Kaja Grobelna notched 24 points on the other side.

Thus, only the USA and Serbia (by beating Russia, yesterday) earned a coveted spot into the Final Six throughout Preliminary Round, so far, plus the Final Tournament hosts China.
