In the first match of Day 2 in Pool 6 of the FIVB Volleyball Nations League, Italy have scored their first victory at the competition.
An energetic attacker Miriam Sylla inspired Italy against Germany and the team of coach Mazzanti finished the match in three sets (25-22, 25-18, 25-20).
Sylla finished the match with 15 points while Serena Ortolani with 13 and Marina Lubian with 12 points.
Germany competed hard but were outplayed by their buoyant opponents to lose their second match in the second phase of the VNL. They were led by star Louisa Lippmann (15 points) but dynamic captain Maren Brinker Fromm was well held with just 8 points.
In the big match between Korea and Russia, the home team celebrated the fourth consecutive victory 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-17). Once again Kim Yeon-Koung was a real leader and she was unstoppable. She scored 21 points while Su-Ji Kim finished the match as the second-best scorer of the team with 10 points (4 blocks).
Russian side didn’t find a solution for the opponents so they didn’t score too many points. The best scorer of the team and the only player with double effect was Irina Fetisova who scored 12 points.
