France’s nearly perfect Intercontinental round campaign in the 2018 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League (12-3) was no coincidence as the „Les Bleus“ scored both wins in the Final Six pool stage to secure a berth in the semifinal in which they will play the United States.

Losing to Serbia on Day 2 in Pool A of the Final Six in front of own crowd at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille by a 3-0 or 3-1 would eliminate them from the Nations League. That’s why France head coach Laurent Tillie made a strong analysis of the rival with his staff before the game.

„We talked with the staff and players before the game to see what we would do if we actually won the first two sets and we decided to let the original lineup play in order to finish more quickly, potentially, and not break the rhythm. I have total faith in my subs but all the minutes of resting are important in such a context. Now, there are four big teams. The Americans are all about the serve power, the block accuracy, and their opposite’s spiking skills, so it should be a nice fight,“ Tillie stated.

Semifinals:

14:00 C.E.T. – France vs. USA

16:30 C.E.T. – Russia vs. Brazil
