Serbia got used their fans to fighting for medals on big tournaments and the FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League is certainly one of these tournaments. But, after suffering both defeats in the Final Six pool stage, and both in straight sets, their medal hopes vanished.

„France is definitely a team to whose play we can’t adapt. In my opinion, we have a mental barrier. It seems like we wait for some referee’s wrong call or we wait for them to serve three aces and confirm that they are better than us. They are better than us, not just them, and we need to reset ourselves. This is how much we value at the moment,“ Serbia head coach Nikola Grbić could not hold on the bitterness.

“It was a miracle that we qualified at this point (to the Final Six). What we did is a win against the teams that were better on paper, (i.e. Russia and Poland) who were missing players during the round-robin. Now, we need to carry out a long analysis of everything that we did during this tournament; what went well, what went wrong. I really hope we can learn our lesson for the World Championship. We’ll have 20 days now to rest and prepare for the most important tournament this year,” he added.

Semifinals:

14:00 C.E.T. – France vs. USA

16:30 C.E.T. – Russia vs. Brazil
