The current Ligue A vice-champions, Tours, have completed an unexpected transfer. Before the start of the season in France, the eight-time titleholders recruited the former France National Team member, Maréchal.

Even though Tours had closed their transfer window for the offseason, they were forced to sign one more newcomer. The European champion and FIVB World League winner with ’Les Bleus’ in 2015 arrived to replace the Brazilian, João Rafael Ferreira (came from Italy’s Gioiella Prisma Taranto), who has been injured for several weeks.

The 35-year-old Maréchal is coming off a successful last season in Russia with Ural. The outside hitter hasn’t played in Ligue A for nine years after leaving Cannes. Since then, Maréchal spend seasons between Poland, Turkey, Italy, Germany, and Russia.
