The long-time captain of the Germany National Team will play for United Volleys in the continuation of the season. The 36-year-old opposite hitter initially signed a contract until the end of the 2019/20, but the Bundesliga club has long-term plans with him. Schöps spent the first half of the ongoing season in Qatari SC Police.
He has won numerous titles in his club career so far: the 2007 CEV winner Champions League (awarded MVP), German Championship 3 times, German Cup 4 times, and Polish Championship 2 times (awarded MVP once). With the national team, for which he collected 318 caps and said goodbye in 2018, Schöps took the 2009 CEV European League and the 2015 CEV European Games. Schöps was recognized Volleyball Player of the Year in Germany 3 years in a row (2007 – 2009).
