The Bundesliga playoffs start with huge sensation.

Volleyball Bisons Buhl defeated VFB Friedrichshafen, the regular season winners 3-2 (17-25, 25-21, 25-21, 20-25, 15-13). Simon Gallas with 27 points (44% attack, 1 ace, 4 block points) was the top scorer for Volleyball Bisons Buhl, while Tomas Lopez added 13 (59% on reception, 32% attack) and Niklas Kronthaler 11 points (54% on reception, 38% attack). For VfB Friedrichshafen Linus Weber was the top scorer with 20 points (45% attack, 2 block points), Nehemiah Mote added 14 (56% attack, 4 block points), Nicolas Marechal 12 points (70% on reception, 3 aces, 33% attack) and Martti Juhkami also 12 points (66% on reception, 42% attack, 1 block point).

Luneburg beat Herrsching also after five sets, 3-2 (25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 17-25, 16-14) while the winners of the German Cup, United Volleys Frankfurt could not surprise SWD powervolleys Duren, they were defeated 1-3 (20-25, 28-26, 19-25, 16-25).

Berlin Recycling Volleys started the playoffs in the expected style. They outplayed Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee (German Cup finalists) and won with a clean 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-20).
