The highlight of the season there in Germany will take place once again at “Gerry Weber Stadium”: in front of 10’000 enthusiastic Volleyball fans four teams will fight for the trophy. In the women’s competition SCHWERINER SC – that represented Germany in this year’s CEV Volleyball Champions League – will play against Rote Raben VILSBIBURG. In the men’s division last year’s finalists, Generali UNTERHACHING and VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, will cross again their ways for another classy showdown. So far more than 500 fans from Schwerin have booked a ticket to support their heroines. Some of them will combine the Volleyball party with a short trip to Halle/Westfalen and Bielefeld staying there for two days. Most of the supporters will take one of the 10 busses provided by sponsors of the club leaving directly on Sunday morning.
The last appearance of the current German champion in the cup final dates back to 5 years ago. In 2007 the team of former coach Tore Aleksandersen edged 3:1 DRESDNER SC. One year before, in 2006, it was again Schwerin that claimed the final match, this time against USC MÜNSTER in just 3 sets. Now the club, fans and sponsors are ready for the next title. But against the top team of the German Bundesliga, Rote Raben VILSBIBURG, it will be a though match. And the Bavarians just announced that 269 spectators are going to hit the road to be in the stadium to cheer on their girls.
