It was an impressive season home debut for the USC women’s volleyball team at the Volleydome on Sunday afternoon. More than 1,600 spectators watched a deserved 3:0 (25:23, 25:17, 25:23) victory over the Western competitors Alemannia Aachen. For the first time, the newcomers Laura Dijkema, Ashley Benson and Sarah Petrausch presented themselves in a competitive match before the home crowd.
USC coach Axel Buring said: “This was a perfect start of the season for us. We must continue with this great volleyball in the next rounds.“
USC Munster MVP was Lonneke Sloetjes, and for Alemannia Aachen it was Karine Muijlwijk.
The top scorers were Cutura 20, Sloetjes 12, Benson 9, Berg 5; Weihenmaier 14, Muijlwijk 10 and Bland 7.
