DRESDNER SC dissipated two set balls in the first set as they went up 24:22 and after that the strength of Eczacibasi made the difference for a rather speedy win.

DRESDNER SC had indeed caught a very promising start into the match (8:6) but Eczacibasi did gradually step up the quality of their play, especially in block, to flip the charts around (17:14). It did not determine the fate of the set as DRESDNER SC fought back and even had a couple of set balls before Eczacibasi finished it off with the score of 26-24.

Neslihan Darnel paced her side in set 2 with Eczacibasi going up 20:14 and even though the home heroines of DRESDNER SC attempted a comeback as they reduced the gap to only a couple of points (21:19), the final rush fully belonged to Eczacibasi that could seal the provisional 2:0 (25-19).

DRESDNER SC could not keep that same pace in the third set with the score remaining close only up to 9 all, before Eczacibasi changed gear and the local side could no more stand the pressure put by their opponents in offense and from the serving line. Neslihan Darnel did a good job here too and eventually top scored in the game with 18 points.

“I think that we played pretty good for the first two sets but after missing our chance in the first we knew it was going to be very difficult for us to fight back and re-open the fate of the match” says home coach Alexander Waibl. “Still I am satisfied with what we were able to show tonight”.
