The home guys mentored by Giorgios Giatsis dominated the scene in set 1 and 3 where they did outclass their opponents in all fundamentals but the Belarusian players responded well in the second and fourth set where they claimed a small cushion that they were able to keep until the end. A tie-break was hence called to determine the outcome of the match and there a neck-to-neck race unfolded before the last rally was scored by Belarusian Eduard Abukhovich. “We knew that Kommunalnik is a good team and they showed this once more tonight” says Greek mentor Gatsis. “We had many problems in blocking, especially in the second and fourth set, even though our reception was good”. In the next round of the competition GRODNO will play Russia’s Ural UFA.
