Silvano Prandi (coach Andreoli LATINA): “The playoffs were introduced to interrupt the dominance of Torino, which I used to coach. They used to win the league with games to spare which made the attention on the league to drop. My club proved to be the main factor, to create interest, given that we would never lose. It was necessary to find a formula that could awake the interest with direct knock-out games. Then, American sports took this formula too. I also liked a lot the formula of the final played on one single game, which we gave up on this year. I have always considered this moment the most exciting and fascinating of the season. They hand the league title so those playoffs are obviously very important but you cannot underestimate the regular season which determines the draw. As for us, who focused on the Cev Cup, this will be a good moment to evaluate our potential. San Giustino is a well-balanced team, with great talents and huge determination, I really like them. It will be extremely tough, like the two regular season games, you just have to look at the scores. It will be very tight, and the other one too. We know we’ll have to play at an excellent level to go through”.
Goran Maric (Altotevere SAN GIUSTINO): “We’re ready for this challenge. It won’t be easy, they’re strong, solid and with top level players who can make it hard for anyone. We’ll face this game with competitive spirit and determination, we know we can have our chance. What matters at this stage is to put in practice all the things we have built with sacrifices up until now. I am convinced we can have a say in those playoffs, but on one condition: we have to be more clinical in the clutch time, that’s the only way to have a good run”.
