Macerata’s Champions League campaign has taken a stumble as it was defeated home 3-0 in the Italian derby against Cuneo in what was one of the worst performances of the season. In order to go through to the next phase, Macerata will need to win away on Wednesday February 8 and then take the Golden Set too. Leandro Vissotto was top scorer of the game with 17 points, 52% in attack and 1 block.

Alberto Giuliani (coach Lube Banca Marche Macerata) “Tonight nothing went well at all, my opinion is that this was purely a psychological problem, because we really cannot afford to approach such an a crucial game the way we did. The most important thing is to think one game at a time, so tomorrow we’ll focus on the league, and then on the Champions League. Make no mistake, we can still qualify. But we’ll need to go there without any fear”.

Igor Omrcen (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We struggled in every area of the game, there cannot be any excuses for such a bad performance in one of the most important games of the season. We couldn’t have played worse, many silly mistakes, even in simple situations. We’ll have to make a good analysis and get down to work immediately. We’ll have to bounce straight back on Sunday. We can still qualify, we have to believe we can because this team has great potential and can do anything”.

Camillo Placì (coach Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We managed to cut down our mistakes to the minimum, and we stayed focused all the way through, even in the difficult moments. We are satisfied with this win but that’s not the end of it”.
