The nail-biting tie-breaker concluded after a long exciting exchange when Jose Santos blocked Tsvetan Sokolov, who had a tournament-high 33 points in the losing effort.
The Brazilian Santos led UPCN with 20 points, followed by Theo Lopes and Martin Ramos with 14 and 13 points, respectively.
Sokolov’s huge performance included 5 blocks and 4 aces but fell just short. Alexandre Ferreira and Filippo Lanza contributed 15 and 13 points. Trentino held the advantage in blocks (13-8) and in aces (8-4) but made 38 unforced errors to 28 by UPCN.
