The first player that comes to mind of the Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio fans in regard to the 2011/12 season in which their club became the Italian women’s volleyball club champion for the first (and only) time has returned.
Carli Lloyd, the famous American setter, the splendid protagonist of the historical 2011/12 season of Busto (the title in the Italian Championship and Cup, also in Super Cup at the start of 2012/13), and the “best interpreter of this role ever seen under the dome of the Palayamamay“, has returned to the club. The 32-year-old Californian will wear the jersey of the ’Butterflies’ again after 9 years (2011-2013). After becoming a mother in May 2021, previously announcing her retirement in September 2020, Lloyd has returned to the courts at the beginning of this year, playing the second edition of the professional league in her home country, Athletes Unlimited.
The 2022/23 market of Busto thus, continued in the best way. Before hiring the former US National Team member and one-time CEV Champions League and FIVB Club World Championship Best Setter, The Serie A side engaged Brazilian opposite hitter Rosamaria Montibeller from the league rivals, Igor Gorgonzola Novara, completing the main starting diagonal. These two have already collaborated on the court – in Brazil’s Dentil Praia Clube in 2018/19.
