Sir Safety Susa Perugia defeated Cucine Lube Civitanova 3-1 (20-25, 27-25, 25-18, 25-19) in the 11th round of the 2022-23 Italian Men’s Volleyball Championship.

After a balanced game for only two sets of the ’classico’ of the Italian men’s volleyball within the 2022-23 SuperLega Credem Banca, Perugia conquered the Eurosuole Forum in Civitanova to beat the home side of Lube 3-1. The match was valid for the 11th round, which the other teams will play on December 11. Perugia in that week, however, will be involved in the FIVB Club World Championship and, like Itas Trentino, who played yesterday and beat Valsa Group Modena 3-1, had to move forward in this way. These four teams will also be the protagonists of the Italian Super Cup in Cagliari, with the final scheduled for Tuesday.

The guys of head coach Andrea Anastasi have noted their fifth consecutive victory at this start of the season and are firmly confirmed in the lead of the standings with a 5-0, while Lube ran into the third defeat in six matches played (the second consecutive defeat after 0-3 against Vero Volley Monza) and are momentarily in fourth place, six points behind Perugia and with one more match played compared to them.

Lube couldn’t count on their main attacking weapon, Ivan Zaytsev, today. In general, having 3-3 at this stage of the season doesn’t promise a title defense for Lube. Pole Kamil Semeniuk top-scored for the ’Block Devils’ with 18 points. The returnee after injury, Puerto Rican-American opposite, Gabriel García ’Gabi’, was Lube’s most efficient player with 15 points, including 4 aces.
