WCH W: Italy gears up for World Championship

by WoV

Italy is willing to put on a great Volleyball show by the time the country plays host in late September to the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Italy 2014. With this in mind, the Organising Committee held from Thursday through Friday a set of clinics in order to train the local staff but also some other members of the international Volleyball family.

“We want to raise the quality of our organisation and provide Volleyball with the best we can offer in terms of professionalism and skills,” says Tournament Director Renato Arena who is also a CEV Vice President and a member of the FIVB Board of Administration. “However, this action is not only addressed to our staff that will be working for the World Championship. We decided to open it also to all other organisers of FIVB events throughout the coming season, starting with the FIVB World League to continue with the World Grand Prix. Since the video check system we have developed here in Italy will be used in all of these competitions, the attendance to the seminar was open to representatives from countries spanning from Japan and Hong Kong to Brazil, Peru, and Mexico. The world’s Volleyball family was represented in all of its facets this weekend here in Montesilvano,” he continues.

“We want our staff to start preparing for the Championship well before the opening day of the competition,” Mr. Arena says. “We have involved experienced lecturers to share their knowledge and skills with our staff and I am convinced that with this action we have laid the foundations for a top and memorable event whereby we want to raise the profile of our sport to new heights.”
