Gianlorenzo Blengini has become the 18th national team coach in the history of Italian volleyball. His main goal will be to take his country to Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

Blengini did not talk a lot after his promotion. He did not want to speak about the roster or whether he would call 4 players who got expelled from the national team (Zaytsev, Sabbi, Travica, Randazzo). Instead he only promised that he will give his best at his new job.

“I want to thank the President Magri and the Italian Volleyball Federation for giving me this opportunity, and especially for showing a great amount of respect toward me. Right now the only thing that matters is to get the team ready for the World Cup. Obviously, our main goal is to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 and then to make a good result at the European Championship. As always in my career, I can guarantee that I will put all of me in this job and that I will do everything to help Italy achieve those goals” said Blengini for gazzetta.it.
