Piacenza beat the odds and outplayed title favorites Modena after a grueling encounter held in front of 2,039 spectators at their PalaBanca, 3-2 (29-27, 17-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-12). Both sides were weakened tonight as libero Loris Manià could not play for Piacenza while opposite Giulio Sabbi was sidelined for Modena. The veteran Alessandro Fei led Piacenza to the win in 2 hours and 21 minutes long battle with 26 points. The French Earvin Ngapeth scored 24 points for Modena.
The defending champions Cucine Lube Civitanova did not sweat a lot in the win against the visiting side Taiwan Excellence Latina (3-0) but their medical staff might sweat a bit while estimating the injury of Osmany Juantorena. The outside hitter left the court in the second set due to injury. Good news for Lube fans is that American Taylor Sander fully healed his back injury and took place in today’s game. The Bulgarian opposite Tsvetan Sokolov highlighted Lube, who won their fourth straight match, with 15 points.
Sir Safety Conad Perugia remained leaders in the standings after achieving a hard-fought victory against Revivre Milano on the road, 3-1. The Dutch international Nimir Abdel-Aziz made another astonishing display for Milano – 28 points. On the other side, the Serbian opposite Aleksandar Atanasijević poured in 17 points.

Aaron Russell was elected the MVP of the match but you did not even mention his name.
Strange.
Check last 10 years and you will see that Cuban players always get injured end of January or February… and why???
