
NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki stayed unstoppable in Japan’s Daido Life SV.League, adding two more victories over Denso Airybees Koriyama to remain unbeaten since the season began. Saturday’s clash went to five sets, with Denso pushing hard but NEC ultimately sealing a 3-2 win. Italian opposite Sylvia Nwakalor led the charge with 31 points. On Sunday, the Red Rockets looked dominant, finishing the weekend with a clean 3-0 sweep to record their 10th straight win.
Victorina Himeji climbed to second place after a weekend split with Saitama Ageo Medics. Saitama claimed the first match 3-2 thanks to Fuyumi Hawi Okumu Oba’s 22 points, but Himeji came back stronger the next day, winning 3-1 with Italian opposite Camilla Mingardi powering through 36 points.
Saga Hisamitsu Springs also moved up the standings with two hard-fought away wins against Gunma Green Wings. American opposite Stephanie Samedy was key for the team, scoring 20 and 30 points across the two matches. Meanwhile, defending champions Osaka Marvelous returned to form at home, sweeping Kurobe Aqua Fairies 3-0 and 3-1, led by strong performances from Ameze Miyabe and Lise Van Hecke.
Queenseis Kariya kept their momentum going with back-to-back wins over Astemo Rivale Ibaraki, first pulling off a thrilling comeback in five sets before sweeping the second match. Danielle Cuttino and Sofya Kuznetsova were standouts with 29 and 28 points respectively. PFU BlueCats Ishikawa Kahoku also enjoyed a perfect weekend, taking down Toray Arrows twice behind Melissa Valdes’s performance.
At the bottom of the standings, Aranmare Yamagata and Okayama Seagulls finally celebrated their first wins of the season. Okayama took Saturday’s game 3-0 led by Rinka Komatsubara, while Aranmare struck back on Sunday with a 3-0 win behind Kaho Wakaizumi’s 23 points.
